| Since many of us are not insured, or are underinsured and, since our health care system is not geared towards preventive care, a lot of individual health problems don't get the attention they need and eventually become life threatening. When that happens, the individual suffers; not just physically, but financially. That cycle usually continues for the rest of the individual's life. I don't think that type of system works for most of us. |
| I believe that, until every citizen in this country has an affordable, acceptable standard of health care (including dental, vision, etc.), we have failed. So I wag the finger of shame at "The Powers That Be" for bringing profit and greed into the Health Care arena and at those elected officials who continue to make that possible by their actions or inactions. At the same time, not enough can be said about the debt of gratitude we owe those individual Caregivers and Health Care professionals who work tirelessly to care for us when we cannot care for ourselves. |
